The steadfast defence of a fan

I hate "fans" of things with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

This sounds flippant i can understand the idea of liking something, the idea of wanting to protect something you like from "attack" but being blind to faults it has make it hard to believe they even watched/player/read/breathed/eaten/whatever what they are a fan over. The game "Alpha Protocol" seems to of now gotten to "Fan game" status and this is a unfair thing to give a game.

Deus Ex, Vampire : Bloodlines and some others are considered "fan games". Games that have a diehard fan base. Why? Because the fans finished the game. These games are called great bits of work by most (Deus ex most of all) but in reality the work to make them great came from fans who see greatness bogged down in bugs and crappy coding. While this is fine, this doesn't mean the game should of gotten better scores. When a game like Alpha Protocol comes out and get scores of around 2 -6 out of tend, people tend to wounder why the high ones are so high and not the low ones. The game was buggy, had poor graphical loading, suffered from poor gameplay choices (Seriously, why put in SMG's when its worse then the pistol in every way, shape and form) and the bugs...oh god the bugs. When your AI shoots itself, its a proof you haven't understood AI.

This gets me about all things. Im a fan of "Bio Booster Armor Guyver" (the manga version from way back, not the new one) and the reason why is because IT WASN'T FINISHED!. It left you wanting to read the manga, work out what happened and it was really well told. Yes, there were some rather poor moments and it felt rushed but it wasn't that bad. Difference between myself and the AP fans? Il admit it was shit in places but i am willing to look past it. I totally understand why someone like Prof would find the newer one much easier to watch. Its a personal preference and THATS the key point. Personal Preference!. If you are letting your personal feelings get ahead of common sense or wavering a argument. It is called your opinion/personal preference. Don't act like everyone else is wrong, your the one being the idiot.

This rant was brought to you by a guy who is sat a few seats away in business, on a plan full of game reviewers, whinging about AP's low score. I am now going to kill him and hide his body in the toilet.
