Nintendo wins E3 by playing the best played game in the business. Fact.
What makes me say this? Lets play a little game called "Glasses". Here is how it works.
Nintendo made the casual gamer a market filled with money. This is represented with a glass full of water. Sony and MS have a empty glass with maybe a tiny bit each between them. This is to show the hardcore gamer market that has always been split between them. Now, let's break this down even more to its core elements. Nintendo basicily said "Sorry hardcore gamers, we only have the old school games to keep you going, along with a few drips and drops. Our DS is more your kinda thing at the moment." and so they went to MS and Sony. GAMING MOVED FORWARD. Unlike things like films and TV, gamers move there own world forward by surporting there developers and giving them money so more steps can be made. Its why EA is not the monster it used to be as yes, while it keeps a tight grip on somethings lets them keep money flowing, im sure they also fund minor projects and indy games to let that market grow too. God forbid!.
While Sony and MS have hardcore and old school gamers with them, gaming moves forward because of the tech behind it. The problem is this new market Nintendo have. It is just a titanic market, filled to bursting with idiots that don't know better and are willing to buy shovelware (a term used to describe crap games that are made on the cheap and rushed) at any price. Nintendo ALLOWED this market to keep going because it made them money so fast that it wasn't even funny. What happened? Sony and MS wanted that feeling and so Natal and Move was made (I refuse to call it Kinect. Screw that). Now i know your thinking what this has to do with E3, right? Let's go back to the glasses game and il explain.
Nintendo has this glass full of casuals that already have a cheap gaming console that does movement games. They don't lose water really since there market wont vanish. They now have a wii in nearly every household so why would they?. Instead, the hardcore gamers from Sony and MS see this shift in there companies as a sign of weakness and most of all disservice to them. They helped keep there PS3's and Xbox's going in the long run and its painful to watch your console be turned into a "wii rip off". So the hardcores now move to nintendo, who happen to have a TITANIC showing of old school games like Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus, Golden Sun and the 3DS that promises to be the DS for hardcore gamers really. Why should you stick with MS or Sony when Nintendo have not just all the cards, THERE MAKING NEW ONES!. And the sad part is that's not even the worst thing in this. Its that MS really put all there cards on the table with Natal. The big name reveal that really was pushed to be the next big thing ended up being railroaded by Nintendo's old school revival AND Sony point out that without buttons, your console add on is WORSE then the wii without the motion plus!. That's sad....very sad. Sony said it best "Without buttons, unless you plan on catching a ball, your not going to have control"
What made me cry with laughter though in the end was Sony more then MS because of how desperate they push new tech onto people. It really does ruffle me the wrong way when you hear about how 3D is the new thing and Nintendo prove flat out you don't need the glasses and such to make it work. Instead, you have this idiotic TV that forces people to wear glasses. This is what you want to make your gamers do? Wear that for a "Truly Emerson Centered Gaming Experiences (tm)"? Don't make me laugh! We pay enough in the cinemas for that crap, you want it in our house? How will it make a first person shooter any deeper when we have two of your multi-coloured lollipops in our hands spazzing out as you try to say "ITS A GUN, SERIOUSLY?!".
Nintendo, you have proven to me you are what gamers want nowadays. What saddens me is that it toke so many years for you to do it and you still don't understand fully what it is. This year simply put was AWFUL. For every step we take forward, someone pulls us back. MS is a laughing stock with the worst in show easily. Sony proved they have the games, just not the brains and Nintendo are just two faced to there market it seems as they turned there back on the hardcore...then when it suited them came back with open arms.
Il make the ending positive because to be honest, who wants to read all that and feel down. DCU (DC Universe) looks really really good, something i was hoping it would because im more then willing to throw the cash at it. Warhammer 40k's MMO "Dark Millennium" also looked more complete then i could of thought but unfortunately i think its going to go the way of the other warhammer and end up being "for fans". Bioware's MMO looks too good to be true and id ask you all to give me your opinions on that as i also have a few beta keys for that and its...going to be interesting to see. Its very much a MMO war going on at the moment as Warcraft is dieing now. People smell the blood in the air.
Outside of that. Kirby's game on Nintendo had me crying tears of joy...why? HE TURNS INTO A CAR...I WANT ONE OxO; S...sorry, its a reaction to cute. Come on, you have to admit he's so squishy. Even his anime was good! The theme song "Right back at ya" was good....all 2 people i know are looking at me in shame i bet. ¬_¬ meh!.
In life stuff here, since i haven't posted in a while. Im really loving LA. Its so nice to walk around and it feels big. I went shopping for a few things as i was demanded to by Grace. I have a swimsuit for later as well as a new Green Lantern shirt as my current one was tight enough to make the owner of the DCU booth go red and give me a interview he wasn't willing to give. Go boob powers! -_-. Needless to say, todays my last day and then i have 3 days rest before im off to DC to do a lot more. Its going to be a fun few days ;).
...Do i get hugs now? T.T i updated and gave honest opinions and journalistic things. Im a good girl. *sniffle and curls up in bed*
